UNION BAPTIST CHURCH

He has told you, O man, what is good; and what does the Lord require of you but to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God?

Micah 6:8
There are a lot of false pictures of what being a man is all about. What we are not talking about is a false-bravado, overly masculine type of man, that when all is said and done is too manly to love, too manly to serve, too manly to care, or too manly to lower himself in humility. But what we are talking about is a man who is willing to be wrung-out for the good of his family, his wife, and his God.

RESOURCES

Men - Demonstrating God's Strength

We have an ambition to see men discipled by integrating the gospel into their lives, developing deeper and more honest relationships, and developing a vision of the Kingdom of God forged through the discipline of Biblical Manhood. We aim to hold the matrix of the modern man up to the fire of scripture and discuss the authentic masculinity that God has created for each of us to walk in. We aspire to discover strength apart from brutality, leadership apart from tyranny, mercy apart from passivity, provision apart from materialism, adventure apart from irresponsibility, and masculinity without degradation.

Regardless of your age or stage in life, we hope you will join the men of UBC in a movement of the gospel in hearts and lives. Any man willing to surround himself with other Christians, not only to challenge and encourage, but also to help one another stand fast and follow Christ is welcome. You don't have to be a regular attender or member of UBC to take part.

Studies

Our Men's Ministry strives to provide biblically based, practical studies that touch on all levels of spiritual growth and maturity. Its our hope that by joining in any of these studies you will be able to apply the truths we study together and will find your connection to God deepen as He works in and through the materials and teachers.

Men's Study

The Men's Study is an ongoing study, meeting one Monday a month at 6:30 p.m. We are currently working our way through two books; Bryan Litfin's book, Getting to Know the Church Fathers, and a book through the THiNK Reference Collection, History: Think for Yourself About What Shaped the Church.

If you are interested, but unsure whether or not this is something you would like to commit to, please come and observe a class anytime.

Discipleship

One of the primary vehicles of intentional discipleship for men in the UBC community is For Men Only. Every aspect of a man's life is created by God for his good and God's glory, but our enemy's main tactic is to distort those areas into enslaving habits and addictions. When that happens, scripture describes that entrapment as a "snare" (Proverbs 7:23). The more men try to fight these snares by themselves, the tighter the noose gets. If you're beginning to feel enslaved in some area, For Men Only is a brotherhood of men actively working with Christ to break free from enslaving habits and addictions.

If you would like more information on For Men Only, or if you would like to be mentored by one of the men in our community, please contact us and we'll be in touch.

Life Together

As a body of Christ, community and life together come in many different ways. The way we engage with one another changes from year to year, but we seek to provide many other opportunities for men to band together through conferences, events, work teams, and study groups. To stay informed of community events for men, please keep checking the events page or contact us with your questions.
